Senator Florence Shapiro will appear tomorrow morning—Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 7:20 a.m. CST—on FOX News’ nationally broadcast morning show, FOX & Friends, to discuss K2, a legal synthetic marijuana, and why it needs to be banned across the state of Texas.
GOP leaders and grassroots activists from across the state of Texas will gather this week in Dallas for our State Bi-Annual Convention. On the agenda are official activities such as approval of the party platform & election of our leadership.
Plano Senator Florence Shapiro, a former teacher, supported charter schools 15 years ago when the legislature first charters in Texas. Today, as chair of the Senate Education Committee, she says Charters have shown themselves to be a positive, innovative force in public education. In and interview with KERA Radio in Dallas, Shapiro said “Charter schools have proven they shouldn't be apart from the Texas school system but should be a part OF the Texas school system. Charter schools are public schools. I repeat that over and over with my colleagues in the legislature, because they manage to forget that.”
State Senator Florence Shapiro plans to introduce legislation next session to ban K2 and any other related synthetics in Texas. In an interview Channel 11 in Dallas (CBS) Shapiro says something needs to be done about K2 before it becomes a big problem.
